Hillary and Rosemary, Merino Sheep at MVFAS About the Residents of the Mountain View Farm Animal Sanctuary

Hillary and Rosemary are both 7-year old Merino sheep.  They were abandoned by their mother and came to MVFAS in the spring of 2003 when their owner relocated from Massachusetts to New York City.

  • Merino sheep were developed in Spain and is a fine-wool breed.
  • These sheep are noted for their hardiness in dry climates and their herding instincts.
  • Sheep are grazers, living on grasses, woods and shrubs.
  • The average life span for sheep is 12 to 14 years.
